Susan Jung, food columnist for Vogue Hong Kong, was the longtime food and drinks editor for the South China Morning Post (SCMP), Hong Kong’s internationally-renowned English daily newspaper. Her latest cookbook, Kung Pao & Beyond – Fried Chicken Recipes from East and Southeast Asia, was published by Quadrille in May, 2023. Her first cookbook, A Celebration of Food, was published by the SCMP in 2012. She contributed to Phaidon’s Signature Dishes that Matter, published in 2019. She has written about food for publications outside Asia, including The Guardian and Bon Appetit.

Since 2015, Susan has been the Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau Academy Chair for the World’s 50 Best Restaurants and Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants.

She works as a restaurant consultant, and also does collaborations with chefs for fried chicken events.

Susan has spoken on panels and moderated events for groups that include the Hong Kong Literary Festival, The Women’s Foundation and La Cucina Italiana (Bologna, Italy), and moderated talks with chefs such as Ferran Adria, Pierre Hermé, Dan Hunter (Bray) and Rodolfo Guzmán (Boragó). She’s taken chefs and food writers, including Anthony Bourdain, Jamie Oliver and Allen Jenkins, on food tours of Hong Kong.
